This is an installation that is about a week old. The intranet is visable. The internet is not. I believe the problem is with my Gateway/Router. I get the same results on the app on my iphone as on my laptop. Ping test to 8123 gets good results. I noticed the problem when trying to update the native weather app, it indicates that it needs internet, so far my attempts to resolve the issue have met with somewhat of a dead end. My outside world is provided by a fiber connection through Conexon using a Calix gateway, model 100-05930. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Hello, Im not sure to understand your issue. Do you want to expose HA to internet (e.g. to use it with 4G) ? Or your HA simply dont have internet ?

You need to either use the Home Assistant Cloud service or establish your own personal domain with services like Cloudflared, TailScale, DuckDNS, etc…

If you disconnect your phone from your WIFI, does your HA app on your phone still work?
No, it does not.
A Nabu Casa account or other external services are not required for the updates you need, but my inquires tells me nothing is connected outside your local network.
The Calix gateway is the next place to check. Conexon uses MyConnectHome management from what I remember. Is it actively blocking your HA device?
Posting HA system logs may provide more insight.
You should set a static address for your HA device. When you reboot the system you may lose the current IP address and other devices may not be able to find it.
Have you disabled IPv_6. I’ve heard that some routers will use IPv_6 in preference to IPv_4 and not send your requests to the DNS. Reboot the system if you make the change.
