Trouble hiding ZWave items from dashboard

Zwave is working, but I can’t figure out how to hide all those icons from my dashboard:

I’ve added this to my configuration.yaml , right after time zone stuff (cut short for brevity, but all these sensor names were taken from the developer bit -> entity list, so I’m sure they’re correct)

customize:
   sensor.bedroom_alarm_level_8:
      hidden: true
   sensor.bedroom_alarm_type_8:
      hidden: true
   sensor.bedroom_burglar_8:
      hidden: true
   sensor.bedroom_luminance_8:
      hidden: true
   sensor.bedroom_relative_humidity_8:
      hidden: true
   sensor.bedroom_sourcenodeid_8:
      hidden: true
   sensor.bedroom_temperature_8:
      hidden: true
   sensor.guest_alarm_level_7:
      hidden: true
   sensor.guest_alarm_type_7:
      hidden: true
   sesor.guest_burglar_7:
      hidden: true

Restarted HA many times, no change. I’m sure it’s such a silly, noob error, but I’m stuck. Thanks in advance!

I’ve solved this, but not entirely clear why. I noticed someone else’s configuration showed the customize section indented under the homeassistant key, rather than starting on a new line, and that seems to have done it.

This is the complete code now, if anyone else has the same frustrations:

homeassistant:
  # Name of the location where Home Assistant is running
  name: Home
  # Location required to calculate the time the sun rises and sets
  latitude: removed
  longitude: removed
  # C for Celsius, F for Fahrenheit
  temperature_unit: C
  # Pick yours from here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tz_database_time_zones
  time_zone: Europe/London

  customize:
    sensor.bedroom_alarm_level_8:
      hidden: true
    sensor.bedroom_alarm_type_8:
      hidden: true
    sensor.bedroom_burglar_8:
      hidden: true
    sensor.bedroom_luminance_8:
      hidden: true
    sensor.bedroom_relative_humidity_8:
      hidden: true
    sensor.bedroom_sourcenodeid_8:
      hidden: true
    sensor.bedroom_temperature_8:
      hidden: true
    sensor.guest_alarm_level_7:
      hidden: true
    sensor.guest_alarm_type_7:
      hidden: true
    sensor.guest_burglar_7:
      hidden: true

YAML is very picky about indents and colons and such. Also, space bar never tab!

BTW, if you wanted to see those sensors but just not in the ‘bubbles’ you need to put them in a group.

Got it, thanks!

Unfortunately, after a restart, they’ve now disappeared from my groups too! I used this:

group:
  bedroom:
    - light.bedroom
    - light.under_bed
    - sensor.bedroom_relative_humidity_8
    - sensor.bedroom_temperature_8
    - binary_sensor.bedroom_sensor_8
  humidity:
    - sensor.bedroom_relative_humidity_8
    - sensor.himitsu_relative_humidity_9
    - sensor.guest_relative_humidity_7
  himitsu:
    - sensor.himitsu_temperature_9
    - sensor.himitsu_relative_humidity_9
    - sensor.himitsu_luminance_9
    - switch.himitsu_lock_switch_5
    - binary_sensor.himitsu_sensor_9

Yet this is all I see:

The group of just humidity sensors has vanished, while the others which have lights too, appear only with the lights and missing the sensors!

Any idea? The groups were all working before I hid them… Arghhhhh… .

If you have them hidden in customize, then they won’t show at all. You need to remove the hidden: true and restart and then they should show up in the group.

Oh! So the thing at the top is just for items that … don’t have a group yet? Thank you!

Yes, exactly. Glad to help!
