I have a new sensor, and have not been able to add it to Matter in HA. After googling, I see that it’s easier to add it to HomeKit first, which I’ve done. But, after a minute or so, the device becomes unavailable, and gives a “Device last seen {insert time}” warning.
Is this a HomeKit issue, or something I’ve done to my HA setup.
I have factory defaulted the P2 (press the button 10 times), but that doesn’t seem to help. It’s hard to think the unit is DoA. It does blink blue when I put it into pairing mode. And yes, I have an AppleTV and HomePod for Matter support within a few feet of the P2. I’ve also had trouble pairing with the Aqara app, as the app says I have no Matter hubs; I have an AppleTV 4th Gen and an HomePod Mini.
Can aqara devices do both matter and Homekit at the same time?
For a door/window sensor I don’t think it is to weird it only sends a state when being used.
As the device is matter over thread, can you see the thread network in ha?
From what I read in this forum, yes it can do both HomeKit and HA at the same time.
However, I’m reading about bigger problem. I have not verified this but I read:
The problem is confirmed: Apple’s Thread Border Router implementation does not expose Thread networks to non-Apple devices. This is a known architectural limitation.
So while the Matter protcol is working, the Threads from an Apple device only support Apple devices (how very Apple). So, I need something else that supports Threads.
Still working on a solution.
UPDATE: Yes, I need to use extra Thread like “Home Assistant Connect ZBT-2”. Just using an AppleTV or HomePod Mini doesn’t give me a full Thread radio signal that’s compatible with all devices that use Thread.
