Hi.

I have an entity climate.trv with numeric attributes current_temperature and target_temperature

I seem to be having difficulty setting up a trigger for an automation for when current_temperature is above target_temperature using the visual editor.

Could someone help me with either the YAML for the trigger or another way to trigger an automation this way please?

Since you are numerically comparing two attributes, there’s no way to do it without using templates.

You can use a Template trigger:

trigger: template
value_template: |
  {{ state_attr('climate.trv','current_temperature') > state_attr('climate.trv','target_temperature') }}

Or you could create Template sensors to “proxy” each attribute to its own sensor, then use those in a Numeric State trigger.
