Trying to detect if I'm driving

Hi guys! I’m new to HA.

I’m using iOS companion APP. But it can’t tell if I’m driving.

I think I can add an automation in iOS shortcut to send a web request to HA server when I connect to carplay, and let HA know that I’m driving.

Now the problem is that I may need to create an entity to device iPhone or create another device in HA to ‘storage’ the status of me driving. So that I can write automations triggered by the status.

How to create a new device or entity?

Use helpers from the UI or add one to configuration.yaml directly. For example input boolean.

Helpers are located settings → devices and service-> helpers.

This is the exact scenario I have to solve it for my project, but I cannot figure out how did you solve “driving detect” for HA from this topic. Can you please help?
