Trying to get status of binary sensor with voice assist

First off, Thank you in advance. I have read through many forums and tried google search and I cannot find the answer to my problem. I am using nabu casa for my voice assist engine. I created a binary sensor for my garage door using an ESP32 and esp32 home and have it showing and displaying the correct status on my dashboard. The problem is when I ask voice assist to give me the status of the garage door it tells me there is no device with that name, but if I ask it if the garage door is open, it says on or off depending on its status, that is the only way voice assist will even acknowledge it exists. I have it exposed and have it set as a door in the device type settings. everything I have read says I should be able to ask for the status of the garage door and it should respond with open or closed.

What is the entity name and what aliases have you assigned.

If you haven’t done anything to give context it will have trouble finding it. Basically you exposed it… Great. How does ha know that’s the garage door. (yes it sounds pedantic but that’s exactly how it works)

when I go to the esp home integration and click on the device garage door sensor, in the name box it shows Garage Door Under type it shows as Door

Is the garage doors area set to Garage? If not HA will not know its in the garage.

I’m still going through this. Looks like a code difference in the way the intent is resolved if you ask

What is the state of the garage door. (seek get state)

V. Is the garage door open… (target ent, compare state.)

One works. One doesn’t because of some decisions on how they handle binary sensors. And appears to be a variant of this…

### The problem The native Home Assistant Conversation Agent incorrectly answer…s "None" to the query: "Which windows are open?" even though one or more binary_sensor entities with device_class: window are in state "on". The same entities are correctly found by Home Assistant templates and can also be queried individually. Well, I ended up just purchasing a ratgo32 module for my Chamberlin garage door opener and that solved all my problems. Everything works as it should and I get proper state responses from my voice assistant. Thank you to everyone that gave a suggestion as to the problem.
