Turn AC on or Off

I think I am being dumb, but please someone put me out of my misery.

I have Google Home and HA.

If I simply say to google ‘turn the AC on’ it will turn it on - resuming the mode the AC last had when it was on.

So, I have Android Auto, which is an app which shows up on your (compatible) car navigation screen and which connects to my HA companion app on my phone. I want to turn the home AC on as I am driving. How do I get a button on the AA screen to do that? HA on AA seems to only support on/off entities. Climate entities don’t show up that I can see anyway and if they did then ‘turn the ac on’ isn’t an option.

Climate entities should have menu options. I’m assuming you have a climate.entity entry on your dashboard? If so, click the hamburger (3dots/context menu) and it presents you with the controls for the device.
