Tuya device keeps going offline

  • I bought this with a beken chip
  • It goes offline within a day
  • I have to power cycle to make it show up in HA again
  1. Anyone facing the same issue?
  2. Any idea how to overcome this constant need to manual power cycle?

Other than Tuya is not the most stable brand name in the world, no.
It has to talk to China to do anything, so the connection could be tenuous.

Had the exact same issue with the zigbee version. Someone replied to me in another thread that the 1 or 2 port version (can’t remember) doesn’t suffer from this issue.

Yep - unplug it permanently. That’s what I ended up doing.

hahaha… ok, sad.

Heads up in case you’re looking for a replacement. You’ll find similar ones on Ali with usb-c which are even worse in my opinion.

They didn’t drop off in the week I spent testing them, but they only do (extremely) slow charging, so it’ll take most of a day to charge your phone.

If you want a decent one which can do fast charging & data but only has 1 usb port, the Sinilink ones are pretty much unbeatable. I’d still be using them if I didn’t need at least 2 ports & wanted to move away from wifi.

Can sinilink integrate with HA? What method does it use?

No clue. I flashed mine with Tasmota the second I got them around 6 years ago. ESPHome also works and would be the recommended way to go nowadays.

I used this guide for flashing in case it helps AliExpress Sinilink WIFI USB Controller - Scargill's Tech Blog

Ok, Tasmota integrates with HA. Are you saying you control yours via its web interface and not HA?

No, Tasmota integrates with HA via MQTT. You can use the web interface, but you don’t need to for HA.

I have two part zigbee version and one part wifi version, they are all working fine. Of course, could be pure luck

What I actually meant to ask is: are you using HA? If not, what are you using? Anyway I’m very familiar with Tasmota. Thanks!

Thanks, I actually just need 2 ports, thought a 3rd one will be good for future plans. But now that they charge slowly, it is another problem.

You obviously took it apart to identify it had a Beken chip. Did you happen to take any detailed photos of both sides of the circuit board? Clear enough to identify the part numbers. Post them here for interest

Not sure which Beken chip it is inside the unit, but OpenBeken (a Tasmota lookalike for Beken chips) and ESPHome will support most of their chips.

What functionality were you looking for when you bought the unit? I presume speaking with Yandex Alice was not one of them.

  1. It was an educated guess, I did not actually check if it was Beken because all Tuya devices from aliexpress were Beken for years now.
  2. All my mains powered devices are banned from using ESPHome and OpenBeken due to usability and reliability issues.
  3. I want it to charge my toothbrush and shaver once a week😂
