Tuya IR devices appear only as thermostat in Home Assistant

I have two Tuya IR devices that work correctly in the Tuya/Smart Life app.
In Home Assistant, they are detected but appear only as a thermostat (climate entity) instead of a full IR/remote device.
Is this expected behavior?
Is there a way to use them as proper IR remote controllers?

With Tuya devices, expect the unexpected.

Zigbee devices generally behave, WIFI devices no one knows.
This is why there are 3 or 4 custom Integrations for Tuya along with the one in HA Core originally provided by Tuya Engineers.
