Tuya - Linking App Account from non-Tuya/Smart Life App

I just had a Della mini split HVAC installed that uses a Tuya-based wifi module. It has a branded “Della+” iOS app and was able to add it and control from there fine. However when I go to the Tuya IoT Platform site and try adding the device via “Link Tuya App Account”, when I scan the QR code from the app, the QR code (on the IoT site) immediately says “QR code has expired” and the device is not added to the IoT project.

I then tried removing the device from the Della+ app and added it via the Smart Life app (where I have a couple of other devices added and integrated into HA) and that succeeded even though it didn’t have my exact model. However controlling from either the Smart Life app or HA is pretty much completely broken. I’m assuming this is because I’m supposed to use the Della+ app.

Anyone run into anything similar? I ordered a Sensibo so this may all be moot. But would be nice to get things integrated natively if I can. Thanks!

Were you able to figure it out? How were you able to add it to the guys app?

Nope, can’t get it work. Sensibo arrived today and that seems to be working. It has HomeKit support so I want to see if I can somehow remove the cloud aspect and just control locally.

Regarding the Tuya app (assuming that what’s you’re referring to) I added it just like any other device. I used the generic “Wi-Fi Heat Pump” and while it seemed to be successfully added, nothing in the UI would work. Completely unresponsive.

I ordered my Della 3 Mini Split from Amazon and adding it to the Tuya App worked. However the integration from Tuya to Home Assistant is very limited …. You can only change temperature and mode. Flow control and Fan speed or Sleep/Eco mode are not supported

Confirmed integrating through the Smart Life app / Tuya integration worked. I’m very happy with the integration, although I agree sleep/eco are not supported.

Couple of questions-

Do you have the heat option in the tuya smart app? I have heat in the Della app but it doesn’t show up on the tuya app.

Secondly did you have wrong temperature values showing in home assistant?

Tuya app says 70 degrees f while home assistant is showing something like 154 degrees f
