Due to the ongoing cold spell the humidity in my house fell to very low values, approaching 30% rH. So I bought a humidifier (Stadler Form Karl big). When it arrived, I realized it had a smart function via an app, which turns out to be SmartLife/Tuya based.
When I tried to set up the humidifier via the Tuya/TuyaLocal app, I tried the SmartLife/QR code setup route. I can scan the QR code HomeAssistant shows, but then I get “Please use the designated APP to log in” when hitting the confirmation button in the Stadler branded SmartLife app. The same happens with the “fresh login” option.
Is this a common thing with these devices now? I’dreally like to avoid using yet another app with yet another account, especially since the built-in Hygrometer is next to useless when determining whether the humidifier needs to run (advertised for 150 square meters of coverage, and I can confirm that it brought humidity up considerably running in constant mode across three floors of my mostly open plan house), so the built-in auto mode is useless.
Any hints? Do I really need to go the route of trying to retrieve the device identifier with some command line tool to get this integrated?
When it asks to use an app then you set it up via the app first then sign into the smartlife/tuya intergration in HA when not trying to faff about with trying to convert it to local only until that breaks.
Smartlife and Tuya share the same login info so its a pick your poison deal with the branding at that point, hell the apps are exactly the same other than again branding.
Yeah, its set up in the SmartLife app (branded to the seller of the device), which is where I get the error message about having to use the designated app after scanning the QR code and hitting the button to confirm I want to login with Home Assistant.
I have the same issue. Tuya integration was working great on my old system. Moved to new hardware and tried to re-authenticate and now I got the issue that it stated that I need to use the designated app, which I use
Same here. I fixed it by migrating to SmartLife app with a new account. You can still authenticate using the QR code there. You don’t have to move everything; you can just re-pair the new devices there. You can also link the new account to the same project on iot.tuya.com (though it might not be strictly necessary).
Same issue here, yesterday it was still working, this morning I got the same issue as described. If there is any other information needed, just ask. Development need some help here!
