The HUB works fine with the ZHA, but I have no readings for power, voltage, amperage, and total energy delivered, even though these items appeared on the Device tab in the “Sensors” palette. In each case their value is 0. Has anyone managed to get these sensors working?
Greetings
I have the zigbee model and am not too impressed about it. It was the only zigbee device which dropped off my network regularly, so I stopped using it.
Regarding the assumption that it does power monitoring - it doesn’t.
The AE listing only mentions:
" Smart Power Management:Automatic power-on status and history tracking provide peace of mind and energy efficiency."
which essentially means you can see the power on/off history and set the power on state when power is restored.
The reason @Elger9 is seeing those sensors is that ZHA picked up a generic quirk used for power metering devices (Switch_3G_Metering)
now and then i have some issues toggling the power of that little thing
basically when i turn on one switch, it goes back off
or
when i toggle one switch, it goes back and toggles another switch
any of you can see something similar?
thanks
Those are the same symptoms I observed when the device dropped off the network. Only way to fix the issue is to introduce the device to a hammer, violently and repeatedly.
i take the point
mine is not dropping off the network, but sometimes has this strange behavior. But i can’t understand if its somehow code related (it seems like commands are wrongly sent)
In my case (on Z2M), the device simply disappeared from the devices list, like it never existed. Z2M has a tighter timeout (10 minutes) for mains devices, so that might partly explain it.
Either way, I unplugged it a few months ago and haven’t used it since then - it’s too unreliable.
For Zigbee, I have no personal recommendations.
There IS a similar custom zigbee USB device listed in Z2M device page, but only the power monitoring version seems to be listed on their site.
You might also give the Sonoff ZBMicro a try, but it looks identical to the Tuya device and I wouldn’t be surprised if you saw the same behaviour.
I have no personal experience of the above devices and am simply mentioning them since I came across them in my searches.
Only device I am familiar with and can absolutely recommend (if you don’t mind wifi) is the Sinilink WF-USB.
Flash it with Tasmota or ESPHome and you have a rock-solid device with local control. I used it for years before I bought the Tuya Zigbee USB “toy”, and will probably go back to using it.
