Tuya water leak sensor not going back to "dry"

Hi!

I have successfully added this water leak sensor to my Zigbee2MQTT integration:

I have tested it with some water and it works. I now have the state “wet”.

But I can’t get it back to “dry”. I press the button on top (single and double click) but nothing happens. The state stays on “wet”.

I guess I can manually set the state to “dry” on HA, but I don’t know whether it would go back to “wet” after a while since the device itself keeps on reporting it.

Thanks!

Such a sensor will report wet as long as there is moisture (not just water) between the two sensor poles, so make sure to dry it off first.

I do not know that specific device, but if the button you talk about somehow resets the device in any way other than just reboot it, then you might have “killed” the link to HA and then it can no longer report a state change, so figure out what the button does before pressing it again.

I made sure the sensor poles/sensor bottom is pretty dry. I only tested it on my hand with some water. Right after that I used a paper towel to remove any humidity.

About the button, I have a couple other devices that behave that way. I couln’t find any instructions on the manual. I only found this message:

https://forums.homeseer.com/forum/hs4-products/hs4-plugins/lighting-primary-technology-plug-ins-aa/mns-insteon-mnsandler/1551851-leak-sensor-stuck-to-wet

It’s not related to this specific sensor, but it makes sense. I guess the button works if I use the sensor with the native Tuya app.

But since I don’t have a Zigbee hub, my guess is that the Zigbee2MQTT support is not working well with this device.

Update: I have readded the device to the Zigbee2MQTT integration and now the state is “dry”. So I guess there’s no way to manually resets the alert signal.
