I was having issues after fixing it when Tuya updated their login needing Tuya IOT access ID etc. Contacted their support today and they told me the issues I’m having now they no longer offer support or fix anything related to home assistant and said access from home assistant may not exist in the future for tuya API. My question is most simple wifi devices use Tuya or Smart things (same company). All newer devices don’t use the ESP chip so tasmota doesn’t work but a lot of new IOT devices are using the Tuya service. Where do I go from here to make my bulbs, motion sensors, light switches etc to work with HA? I feel like they’re locking their service down and will eventually charge a subscription just to use Tuya without the option to allow HA…
Is there a way to integrate Alexa in to HA to control devices and see their state? Cause Tuya works just fine with Alexa. I can control all my devices through Alexa maybe that can be a work around? Like send a command to Alexa to turn on and off devices or read their state.
Which Tuya API?
It’s known that the old API will be discontinued (in a few months). Home Assistant’s Tuya integration was converted to use Tuya’s new API in last month’s release (2021.10.X).
Agreed with @123 above.
Your (OP) original question “when Tuya updated their login needing Tuya IOT access ID etc” - you seem to be using the OLD Tuya unofficial integration that was never officially supported by Z Tuya and likely will go away soon.
The Tuya Old (V1? V0?) integration was a beta (at best), so Tuya added V2 to HACS until becoming THE official HASS Tuya integration in the November release.
Here is the new official V2 Tuya documentation:
There’s a TON more docs too, I just found this first.
Don’t worry though. If took me less than an hour and I was being nitpicky. No repair needed aside from deleting your old Tuya int, restart full machine/docker:whatever - and THEN install the new version (same naming in Integration drop down).
Cheers
To be clear, Tuya are supporting Home Assistant - they’re actively developing the official Tuya integration. It is, as others have said, the old API that’s going away.
