It’s a kinetic relay that uses 433MHz RF from a kinetic switch to turn it on and off, but also has built-in Zigbee 3.0.
I’ve wired it up and got it working with the kinetic switch, but I can’t seem to pair it to HA with Zigbee.
I’m using ZHA via a Conbee 2 stick. I already have a few Phillips Hue bulbs and one or two other devices that work fine.
The instructions say to press the button on the relay 5 times to get it to enter pairing mode. But when in “add device” mode in ZHA it never appears. Nothing seems to appear in the logs either.
Has anyone had any experience with this device and successfully paired it to their Zigbee network?
I suspect if I ask the seller for help they’ll tell me to buy a Tuya hub, but given it’s a Zigbee device this should not be necessary. It even says “Zigbee2MQTT” in the heading but I’m hoping to not need that.
One of the reviews states that it works with HA, although they don’t state specifically how (ZHA, Z2M, …). Does the device have an LED? If so, does it start blinking when you press the button? Instead of pressing 5 times, have you tried long-pressing?
Yeah I saw the review, which is what prompted me to buy it.
The device does have an LED, but it’s not clear whether it blinks when getting it to go into pairing mode as its quite dim and the relay is in bright location outdoors. I will try again later when it’s dark.
I tried long pressing but the instructions state this is for pairing with the RF switch (which I successfully did). It didn’t seem to make help getting it to appear to ZHA.
I guess switching from ZHA to Z2M might be necessary, but I’d rather not have to migrate my existing ZigBee network for this
OK I got it working with ZHA. For anyone else having the same issue, you have to press the button 5 times very quickly. The pairing light should then start flashing after a second or two.
As this relay is not controlling a light, but rather a fan I corrected the device type from light to switch by following this guide: Zigbee Home Automation - Home Assistant.
