Hi everyone,
I recently ordered a Home Assistant Green because I want to take my smart home to the next level – especially with advanced alarm scenes that trigger lights and sounds throughout my apartment. Super exciting stuff!
Here’s my current setup:
the lights:
I’ve been using the Smart Life app and Alexa to control my devices.
First, I paired the Alusso Smart Plugs with the app.
Then I connected about 30 Alusso LED lights via Bluetooth to those plugs.
I activated the Smart Life Alexa Skill, logged in, and all devices showed up in Alexa – which worked perfectly for me until now.
Now I’m trying to integrate everything into Home Assistant. The Alusso Smart Plug is advertised as a Tuya Bluetooth Gateway:
Product link : Wifi Smart Plug EU - Tuya Bluetooth Gateway Function for Smart Homes
After setting up the Tuya integration, all devices appeared in Home Assistant. However:
I can only control the Smart Plug (on/off).
The LED lights show up, but their control buttons don’t work – they move, but nothing happens.
It seems like there’s a communication issue between the Tuya integration, the Smart Plug, and the Bluetooth Mesh of the lights.
My questions:
Has anyone successfully used Tuya Bluetooth Mesh devices in Home Assistant?
Is there a way to control these devices locally, maybe via LocalTuya, MQTT, or another method?
Would additional hardware help (e.g. a Tuya-compatible Bluetooth gateway that Home Assistant can talk to)?
Or should I consider switching to Zigbee or Wi-Fi-based lights for full local control?
I’m an IT administrator, so I’m comfortable with technical setups – just new to Home Assistant. Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks a lot ![]()
