For those of you using twilio, would you please share what kind of account and number you have? I have been trying to set it up, first with the free toll-free number that came with the account, but I couldn’t get past the registration process to send text messages. My registration was declined, probably because I didn’t have business phone numbers and addresses. Next I tried to purchase a number for $1.15 a month, and it says you cannot register A2P “A2P 10DLC Announcements
In order to send SMS and MMS messages to the U.S. using 10DLC phone numbers, all messages must be sent via an approved application-to-person (A2P) Campaign. Any unregistered U.S.-bound messages will be blocked.” So, from the looks of this, I need a paid account, but I keep reading tutorials that people say you can use a free account. Did something change? Or am I just doing it wrong?
I’ve never been able to get SMS to work with twilio. And I don’t think anyone else has either in my research. I use it for emergency voice message calls only.
That’s interesting because the integration page specifically mentions SMS in the first sentence. Hmmm… hoping that someone stops by here and tells us both how it is done!
Yeah, for a long while I thought it was actually working (I’m pretty sure it was at some point because I’m pretty sure twilio changed the rules later) but I failed to notice in my infrequent tests that it had stopped working.
The documentation is likely a throwback to when it actually did work prior to twilio changing things.
