UK Met Office integration

.Hi, The UK met office integration was working until they changed their system autumn last year
I’ve obtained a new API key and entered it., yet I’m getting Failed to connect.
I case it was me screwing up the API key , I’ve reset it and tried again. I deleted the old Met office integration, I still get failed to connect on the integration set up.

Does the HA met Office integration work since the Met Office changed their system ???

It’s working perfectly fine here. Have you obtained the new api key from here?

Yes I have, I’ve tried running that several times, gets to the point of entering the API key, and then fails to connect unfortunately

Okay, do you see this under Datahub site, or anything related in the logs?

Yes and :-

We are pleased to confirm that your recent application for a Met Office Weather DataHub plan subscription - Free - 55 Calls / Day for Richard Bown was approved on 09/02/2026 07:50.

It looks like you subscribed to the wrong plan. I see you’re using Site-Specific Blended Probabilistic Forecast which is a trial plan and limited to 55 calls/day for only 30 days.

You should be using ‘Global Spot’ which comes with free 360 calls/day.

Hi, I switched account to the 360 calls/day, reset credentials, got a new API
and got exactly the same failed to connect

My nearest weather station is located at RAF Shawbury , I wonder if its trying to connect to a military site , doesn’t makea lot of sense

That’s strange, but I doubt that has anything to do with it. Try removing the integration entirely and delete any leftover entities, then reboot HA/System. Then reinstall the integration again to see if any changes. If not, check HA logs for any errors and paste here.

Also, can you confirm you’re using latest HA Core?

Hi core version is 2024.9.1 that maybe the problem . I had deleted the previous integration and rebooted HA. I’ll update HA , thanks

Yeah, there’s the issue. The integration requires 2025.6+ to use the new api, it won’t work otherwise.

Thanks thats got to the bottom of it. Now to try and remember how to upgrade HA core using pip3
nearly 18 months since I last upgraded . Unfortunately the upgrade option shows no upgrades available,

I am not sure I should be replying to this thread with this question, but this thread is how I found the met office integration. It is working for me having just set it up. I want to combine this data with energy to see heating cost in relation to temperature. Has anyone done that? Guidance if so?

Are you running HA as a Core installation (running directly in a Python environment)?

You had better read this thread if so:
