Can anyone help me source a Zigbee dimmer switch? ChatGPT and Amazon searches are not coming up with the goods.
Requirements:
- UK wiring
- Zigbee-enabled and compatible with Home Assistant.
- Must act as a Zigbee router/repeater, not just an end device.
- No neutral required — existing switch box only has:
-
- Live (L)
- Switched live (L1)
- Earth
- Must control the existing 12 × 34 W G9 halogens = 408 W total.
- Ideally rated ≥500 W halogen/resistive, with some sensible margin.
- Manual local control of on/off and dimming.
-
- Existing rotary control is preferred, but rotary isn’t essential.
- Touch/button control is acceptable.
- HA control of on/off and brightness.
- Suitable for voice control via HA/Alexa etc.
- Must fit the existing UK wall box, shallow box (35mm) - but can create a deeper one if this is a limitation.
- Prefer brushed metal/chrome/ white glass or another non-white aesthetic — avoid plain white.
- Ideally a drop-in replacement/module so we don’t have to replace the whole fitting unnecessarily.
- Target cost: preferably ~£25–40, because the primary objective is improving the Zigbee mesh rather than undertaking a £100 lighting upgrade.
- LED conversion is not currently required. Existing CRI >99 halogens are perfectly acceptable and should remain unless/when replacement becomes worthwhile.
- If LEDs are considered later, they need to be compatible with the chosen dimmer and preferably 2700 K, dimmable, CRI ≥90
