Umbrella sensor

Hey,

I’m using home assistant in my store, but I can’t film outside for privacy reasons.
I’ve already been robbed 3 times, and, since each Unbrella costs more than 500€, I’m thinking about a sensor (or more than one) to use and detect movement.

I’m really not so familiar with the sensor market, I’m looking to the sensitive stripes, do you recommend any other option?

If you have any other ideas, I would really be grate.

The sensitive strips don’t actually sense motion but wether a window or door is open or closed. Could you describe your environment and you actually want to detect (what kind of movement)?

I was thinking more like putting a stripe on the umbrella, and another on the ground… I’m really out of ideias…

I take it you have commercial patio umbrellas. If they are put through a table why not just drill the pole below the table and put a padlock that is bigger than that hole. U have to be brave or really strong to take the table and umbrella.

Physical security trumps deterrant systems.

How about pressure sensors like this? Each umbrella standing on its own pad could be set up to sound an alarm if its moved.

E Really good idea, maybe I can connect this to a arduino with a Xbee shield, and then have an xbee receiver on the raspberry. I hope that HA work with this: http://www.jayconsystems.com/xbee-explorer-board-usb.html .
