Unable to add new Zigbee devices in ZHA

Somewhat new to HA. But not new to smart home tech. Up and running for a little over a month now.

I have had 46 devices attached to HA via ZHA for several weeks now. I recently added a Zooz water shutoff valve and that worked flawlessly.

Today I was trying to add a few more water leak sensors and I’m unable to add them to my zigbee network.

I thought it might be the Zigbee sonoff leak sensors. But I also could not add a zigbee motion sensor I had sitting in a box waiting for a spot to use it in.

I’m running HA on a repurposed Asus Zen book Pro laptop. It’s the only thing on that laptop. No other OS or anything else. Using a Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 USB plus gateway. It’s plugged into a USB hub about 3 feet from the laptop.

I have restarted the laptop, HA, unplugged the sonoff zigbee USB stick and nothing seems to be working. I can’t pair new Zigbee devices now.

I’m out of ideas.

How are you adding the new devices? You can add them via a nearby router rather than through the coordinator, which may be too far away to make a direct connection. Once you’ve added them they’ll find the best connection and switch to that.

A quick google for “Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 USB plus maximum devices” suggests that you can only have 32 devices directly connected to the coordinator. I can’t tell from your screenshot, but that coordinator is looking pretty busy.

If you want to add more, you need to add new devices via existing routers.
In your case, you would find the closest router to where the final location of the leak sensor will be placed, open the device page > Click the 3 dots next to “Reconfigure” > Add devices via this device:

Now you have this new information, you might also need to go back and remove devices one at a time and re-pair to your zigbee network. Start from the closest ones and move out as you build out your network, but expect stuff to go unavailable until you go through the entire mesh.
Yes, it’s a pain, but if you don’t do it now, it might become a problem in the future when you have more devices to deal with.
