When I try to edit or create an automation, regardless if it’s a trigger, condition or action, as soon as I click on anything on the right hand of the screen “where my cursor is” in the photo, it takes my back to the default automation screen. I’ve tried rebooting and just did an update to the latest version with no luck.
Have you tried refreshing your browser front end? Ctrl-F5 on many browsers.
I didn’t even think of that… unfortunately I started to do a system restore to yesterday state when I know it last worked. As soon as it comes back up if it works then I’ll leave it alone.
long answer was not helpful so I’ve moved it to where it won’t bother you.
mine did what yours did on the day that i’d tried removing automations.yaml from its default location next to configuration.yaml to a more sensible place which an automations: !include
had pointed to.
Yesterday I was playing around with automations and node red trying to get webrtc to cast video feeds to my google hubs all was fine. Left for dinner came back and noticed the issue. Something must have happened. It’s been well over an hour and my restore is still stuck at restarting home assistant. Don’t want to do anything stupid and screw that up as well.
good news! Restoring it to yesterday’s state resolved the automation issue.
The issue just came back. Cleared all cache and browser history and the same PC wouldn’t work. tried both chrome and edge. On another device though it seems to work fine.
when I tried to use chrome ingonito, it works initially then same symptom again. On HA app, it seems to be ok.
Any ideas?
I also have this issue. Unsure the cause. I can’t make or modify any automations, adding any sort of trigger just kicks me back to the list.
Tried incognito, different browsers, all the same.
Not really sure how to diagnose this, if anyone wants any more details please let me know
I’ve tried restoring an old backup and the issue remains. @dannieboiz did you resolve this? Anyone able to help at all?
Seems your situation is different than mine. I’m able to work with automation from another computer as well as the android app. It’s for whatever reason the one daily driver laptop that I have shows this symptom
I had exact same issue, rolled back to HA Core 2025.12.5 and issue is gone.
from CLI: ha core update --version 2025.12.5
Issue since 2026.1. Bug in this version. Rollback to 2025.12 solves it.
same issue here. Rollback to 2025.12.5 did not help
Clear your browser cache. Rollback seems to have worked for everyone else.
Had the same issue. It’s fixed in 2026.1.2
