I have a few ZOOZ Z-Wave Plus 4-in-1 Sensors and Everspring ST814s. I’ve had them working for some time, however my server went offline for a few days and now most of the battery powered devices are now in an Initializing (Probe) state.
I’ve tried hitting the “wake up” command on them (one press with paperclip on Zooz), let them sit for some time to update with next update cycle, and restarted HA multiple times, however it’s now been a few days and they’re not registering correctly with Home Assistant.
I’ve looked through the OZW logs, but haven’t found anything helpful. How can I get these devices out of the Initializing (Probe) state? I’d like to avoid removing and re-adding them (not to mention the other part of the hassle of having to reconfigure, name, etc.).
So my “magic” formula to keep these devices connected correctly is to minimize reboots to an absolute minimum. This is really rough for newbies like myself who have to break things constantly to learn, so it’s forcing me to think twice before testing a change or taking an upgrade. Basically, I have to wait 24-72 hours after a reboot before all of my battery powered devices (now 7) come back to a sleeping state. And in that time, they are usually all over the place (Initializing Probe, Dynamic, Associations, etc.), so I end up randomly opening HA just to “refresh” and “test” those items to see if it helps them come back to life. What’s interesting is they’re still pushing updates to the sensors, but I will do everything in power not to reboot again until all of them read “Sleeping” or “Awake.”
Does this seem right? What can be done to improve this battery powered Z-wave situation?
