I’m running Home Assistant on RPi4 with Home Assistant OS 17.2, Core 2026.4.4.
I decided to move the data partition from the SD card to and external SSD using the UI as described in the documentation.
I connected an external SSD to one USB3 port using a powered USB hub. I can see my SSD in the dropdown menu, but I’m unable to select it.
According to the documentation the
external data disk must be larger than the storage capacity of the existing (boot) disk.
My disk has exactly the same nominal size (128 Gb), so I also connected a larger external HDD to the same USB-hub and again I see it in the dropdown menu, but cannot select it (see picture below).
I also checked the list of potential targets from the terminal with the
ha os datadisk list
command, but did not try to initiate the move from there.
Any idea what might be wrong?
Is it my hardware (SDD/Hub/SATA adapter)? Is it the UI?
