Hello.. thought I would start here before posting a bug or request.
I have a Unifi UNVR Instant and I moved all my sensors and cameras over to the device from my Unifi router to take some of the load off. Home Assistant was working great before the move. Checked the integration for Unifi and it does show the new UNVR Instant is detected but I can't add it to the integration.
The current integration requires that you enter a username, password and API key before it will continue. The UNVR Instant does not allow you to set a password for a local user as it's not a UNIFI OS device. You can create the local user and API key with no issues. As a result I'm not able to add the UNVR Instant to my HA and all my automations are now broken.
Is there a work around for this or should this go into the integration bug/feature request to not require a password be entered before adding the device?
Seems like this is one of those very very rare cases where I'm encountering something that's not already discussed widely...
Same issue as OP, even though I think he mixed up things a bit in one of the sentences. The problem is that "You can create the local user and API key with no issues" is NOT possible on UNVR Instant. Yes, the device runs Unifi OS, but unlike other Unifi devices like my UDM7 for example, it does NOT allow to create an API key. I can do this on the UDM7, but like the OP I have a UNVR Instant because UDM7 is very limited regarding the number of supported cams. I have 3 cams, and these can't run with UDM7. That's why I have an UNVR Instant.
I could create local user and API key on UDM7, but this does not help, because my cams are not running with the Protect instance on the UDM7 (which is why Protect on the UDM7 is disabled). On the UNVR Instant, I can create a local user but no API key, so this integration cannot be used.
