I have a weird situation - I have both a Unifi UDM SE and a Unifi NVR. All of my cameras are connected to the Unifi NVR through Unifi Protect (latest version as of today - 5.3.48). When I try to use the Unifi Protect integration in Home Assistant I get an “Unknown error occurred”??
I’ve setup a local user on the NVR, given it Super Admin permissions - still no joy.
But here is the weird thing - I installed Unifi Protect on my UDM SE, and then removed one of the cameras from my NVR and adopted it into my UDM SE through Unifi Protect, then used the Unifi Protect integration in Home Assistant and connect to my UDM SE - bingo, it all works!
I’m running the same version of Unifi Protect on both devices, I just don’t get it.
Anyone have any idea what I might be doing wrong? Some sort of config on the NVR that I need to add/change?
This is odd. I have Unifi UDM SE with Protect 5.3.48 installed with three cameras. A G4 Doorbell and two G5 Bullet cameras. Everything works fine and has for months.
Yeah - I’ve got the same setup with my UDM SE running Portect 5.3.48, and like I said that works absolutely fine. But I cannot connec to the NVR running Protect 5.3.48 - I just get the “Unknown error occurred”.
I bought the NVR to take the load off the UDM SE - last thing I want to do is transfer cameras back to my UDM SE, just so I can see them in HA!
Please can ANYONE help on this one - I really want to integrate my Unifi NVR into Home Assistant so I can get camera feeds. By all accounts it is just supposed to work. I’m on the latest stable release of Unifi Protect, absolutely nothing special about my implementation - all bog standard.
But I just keep getting the error “Unknown error occurred” - it’s infuriating!!
