Good evening everyone
While integrating Home Assistant into my NYC apartment building, I had an idea to modernize surveillance. I picked up the UA-Intercom G2 (gate access kit) to replace the outdated buzzer with a smart doorbell.
For security, I wanted motion events to trigger Home Assistant to capture a snapshot or video, describe what it sees, and email it to meâfully independent of the UniFi Protect app. NYC tenants tend to argue often, so this setup would archive footage (with descriptions) in Gmailâs near-unlimited storage, giving me real-time alerts without needing to manually save anything. I also wanted to customise the greetings which by default is âWelcome + Tenant First Nameâ now it can be an actual nice welcome with the use of the screenshot and google gemini im able to get it to output this " Hello Sir, Nice Polo" as it found my polo shirt to be nice lol. I have the gemini prompt set to determine male and female (this thing does not detect made up genders ) to determine sir or mam too!
Everything worksâexcept I canât get motion detection data from the UA-Intercom. The expected entity in HA never registers motion.
How do i get motion detection automation to work?

(p.s also because i couldnt find online whether the Ubiquiti ua-intercom can be streamed to scrypted and homekit and play tts messages, im just stating it does for anyone else who is wondering. hoping google will pickup this post to inform those wondering. It creates a media player entity to any camera with a speaker, and add all cameras listed in unifi protect to ha. You must use the Unifi Protect Integration. Its actually quite funny the fact i can play music on the device or same some wicked things over tts to random people walking in front my home at midnight )
