Update from HAOS 14.0 / HAC 2024.12.2

Hi!
I am new to this forum and kind of new to HA. I installed HA years ago with some add-ons and integrations, but rarely update and add only add some devices and a handfull automations.

My setup: A VM on a proxmox with HAOS 14.0. Some Plugins (Mosquitto, Zigbee2MQTT, …) and integrations (go-eCharger, Volkswagen Connect, MQTT, Shelly, HACS,…)

My goal: Move the VM to new proxmox node and update all add-ons and integrations.

My plan: Make a HA-backup via HA UI, move the VM (proxmox backup, recreate on new node), update HAOS via HA UI, update add-ons and integrations.

Does this (probably) works? If not, what data is stored in the HA backup? What about the historical data?

It will work except for all the breaking changes since the last update. So its a case of try it and see what breaks, or read all the release notes for every update since the last one.

Basically the backups just restore user data and addon stuff, they do not restore the os part of the installation.
