URC to Home Assistant, HELP.

Good afternoon all.

I currently have a URC system that I’ve used for about 5 years but due to Accelerator 3 locking users like myself out of being able to update and modify our own systems, and now wanting to upgrade to 4K as all of my current equipment is 1080, it’s time to find an alternative but I’m finding it all a bit daunting.

My current setup…

  1. URC MRX-10.
  2. URC DMS-AV receiver.
  3. URC DMS-1200 Multi-zone amp.
  4. Intelix DIGI 4x4 HDMI Matrix.
  5. Wyrestorm Tx/Rx HDMI Extenders
  6. Apple TV.
  7. Fire TV Cube.
  8. Sonos Connect Amp G1.
  9. Rako RA-Hub
  10. 3x TRC-1080 Remotes.

My house has 5 rooms.

  1. Living room. 7.1 setup, TV - HDMI Tx/Rx over cat cable.
  2. Kitchen. Ceiling stereo speakers, TV - HDMI cable.
  3. Main Bedroom. Ceiling stereo speakers, TV - HDMI Tx/Rx over cat cable.
  4. Second Bedroom. Ceiling stereo speakers.
  5. Bathroom. Ceiling Stereo speakers.

All controlled with a TRC-1080 remote.

Network consists of…

1.Virgin Media Hub 5
2. Draytek 2860
3. Ubiquity U6+

I have figured out I can remove the matrix altogether using the Cinema 50 as my current usage always sees the kitchen mirroring the living room when in use.

Apart from the Apple, Fire and Sonos this is a shopping list I’ve put together to essentially start over and upgrade my system…

GMKtec NucBox G3 Plus
Marantz Cinema 50 Series 2
Denon HEOS Multi Channel Amp
Netgear GS116LP Switch
Rako RK-Hub
AV Access 8KEX40-Pro HDMI Extender Kit (Living Room)
AV Access 4KEX70L-Pro HDMI Extender Kit (Bedroom)
Sofa Baton
Apple TV
Fire TV Cube
Sonos Connect Amp G1

I’m looking for advice as to how I get this all working together in HA to give me the same or similar functionality to what I have with URC.

Any help or advice before spending a ton of money would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hello DNO,
Welcome to the Home Assistant Forum.

Your question reminds me of a riddle:

How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

Seriously I suggest loading HA on something and start playing with it. Come back when you have real questions about… whatever gets in your way.
This index post has a lot of answers to get you started, and the post in there about searching helps you search here and the HA Docs to get real answers. I don’t trust Facebook and Reddit answers myself, but to each their own.

I think that’s what I’m going to do, Accelerator 2 was simple enough to get my head around, I’ve just become so accustomed to using it and guess I was just looking for clarification that I shouldn’t have any issues with the equipment that I’m about to buy.

Thanks for the link.

Before you commit to any particular brand/model, have a look here too Integrations - devices and services that work with Home Assistant - Home Assistant. If you don’t find it there, check if it exists on HACS.

It’s much easier to buy something that’s already compatible rather than trying to get it to work
