Learning as I go to get home assistant running. So I came across that we need to use a usb 2.0 extender to avoid interference from usb 3.0. Question that I have is that ok to use a cable split to use both zigbee and zwave? Something like this:
Don’t know the answer to your specific question, but it’s OK to use a USB 3.0 extension lead - if fact they’ve got better shielding. It should be connected to a USB 2.0 socket.
That’s strange as most topics I saw about this it says that a usb2 extender does the trick. I thought I didn’t have a usb2 port but it does have one in the back. 2 usb 3 in the front and a 1 usb c port
I’d be more concerned about power requirements being drawn from the USB port and maybe using an externally powered hub, or hanging it off an adequately powered USB C port.
If you do a quick google search or even ChatGPT you will find many topics on that subject where you should always use a usb2.0 cable to avoid signal interference. This is a first to me too but it looks like a lot of people it’s having issues with devices dropping if you don’t do this. I recently just got home assistant running but I have tons of questions too. I want to get everything up and running before moving everything out of my SmartThings.
The question I have that I couldn’t find yet is if I can use one cave for both Dongles zigbee and zwave without interference.
ChatGPT tells me it’s ok, but I don’t always trust it
This video tells me otherwise where the guy was having issue where his pc wouldn’t even boot because of the hub: https://youtu.be/xF5SDzgj2rU?si=O1BkxEMGahInTpKg jump to 3:20 minutes
