Use Tado Bridge X as a thread border router

Hello together,

I have a problem with using a tado bridge X as a thread border router for other thread devices (namely Aquara W100). I always get the error, that I need a thread border router, although I have the bridge X in the same network.

After adding the bridge to the network, HA found it and added the Thread integration, where I can see the Tado bridge under “Other networks”.

I’ve tried to sync the credentials, but I always get the error, that there are no credentials to share.

I get a similar error, when I try to sync from the “Troubleshooting” menu (sadly I can only add one media attachement).

I could add the thermostats from Tado fine, by adding them to the Tado app and then sharing them over matter. Resetting them and trying to add them directly over Matter (without first adding them to Tado) does not work as well. Sadly I cannot add non-Tado devices over the Tado app.

From what I have read in other forums, it should be possible to use the Bridge X as a border router, but I do not find any specific information on how to do it.

Of course I also tried to reset the bridge and connect it anew, but this did not change anything.

I don’t know what I am overlooking here, so I would appreciate every help regarding this.

Hi!
I have exactly the same issue
I’ve posted it on reddit, but replies didn’t help

I hope we’ll find any solution

very good question! I also would like to be able to use tado border router as thread coordinator.
any luck with that?

As you can see I was able to do it less than a year ago.
I joined 3 Aqara Thread sensors to the Tado Bridge X network, and then I set them in Alexa. Completely working.
BUT now I had to reset one of them and I am no more able to join this sensor.
Just for testing I shared the two still working sensors from Alexa to HA via Matter code generated in Alexa, and they connected to HA (see screen).

So it seems that at the beginning sensors joined Tado Thread network, now they have credentials so still join, BUT new joining is not working as same experience you are having.
I suppose Tado changed something. It’s unbelivable.
You should ask Tado support aswell I did, even if with no success.

tado support does not help in case of real issues, let alone these problems with 3rd party devices… anyway, thanks for your feedback!

has anyone set this up? have the same problem
