Setting up home assistant for a office company building & i am wondering whether it’d be possible to allow access to a certain dashboard to a user only based off of the location of his phone/device.
Would it also need me to create a profile for each worker - the owner should have access to the solar panel production whilst others not (already set this up).
I wouldn’t want a worker in the other room to control lights in another room
The user access controls are pretty much non-existent in HA and your solar generation will also easily be accessible by others with a little knowledge about HA.
Tbh i doubt anyone wants to dig around for it and also i think they all lack knowledge on how to do so - i’ve disabled the sidebar, is there a way to lock the specific room/page for a user so they cannot edit/add anything?
Not really.
You can assign a dashboard for each user but you are still able to edit the dashboard and add what you want.
I believe you are wrong here.
If someone is curious and has some knowledge of computers then that data is compromised.
But… on the other hand. What is the deal about the solar panel?
Why is that a secret for the workers?
I see, hopefully they work on this part more in the future although it’s still quite well made compared to other systems.
If they don’t know it exists why dig around for it - it’s not a secret so they wouldn’t see it but i’m also planning on adding the production value to the same screen. Mainly i’d like it to be clean for workers to use so not too complicated without too much random info which they don’t require.
Another option would be remotes. Such as Zigbee remotes.
But those are just buttons and can’t do more than buttons really.
They can however sometimes have hold and double click options.
We would have smart switches installed in each socket - so shelly devices used for dimming etc. so local control is already a thing - but to not have to stand up each time we’d also have it online
