Using an action to set something to the value of a helper. Why do i need to do it in Yaml?

I was redoing the climate automations to cleanup some old code and changes in how my daughter wants a different morning / evening setpoint.

So created the helpers hopped into the automation GUI only to realize we still cannot set another entity as the value for an action without having to switch to yaml. Is this something that will change (in the pipeline) or am i missing a step somewhere.

I know how todo it, it just seems a bit overlooked.

Edit, also i cannot enter the template into the field directly, but need to enter a number then switch to yaml mode. After that i can edit the template in the field when i switch back to GUI
