I have a brand new HA installation on a dedicated mini-pc using the ZWA-2 Z-wave adapter and Z-wave JS integration, but I can’t get the first switch to add. It’s an Enbrighten 46201 switch that was previously on my Ring network. None of my switches work 100% of the time so I thought I’d try a new controller, hence HA.
Anyway, I removed the switch from Ring and tried the reset procedure on the switch though I never get a blinking light. From what I read it isn’t really necessary anyway. Then I added it via the scanner and it provisions, but never gets included. I see no errors in the logs and if I look at the provisioned items I see it listed with a “S2 unauthenticated, S2 authenticated” message and above it I see its PIN code. So I can’t tell if that means it authenticated or not.
I’ve since removed it, re-added it, left it on, left it off, and still can’t get it to be included and I have no idea where to look for issues. I have several of these switches that I’ll be removing from Ring and adding here so I have to find a process that actually works. Any help would be appreciated.
I have a few of the 46201 and they added without issue.
You can exclude device from smart things and that should allow pairing to a new controller. If that doenst work you should factory reset first.
Quickly press ON (top) button three times then immediately
press the OFF (Bottom) button three times. The LED will
flash ON/OFF five times when completed successfully
I’ve done this in the past and it worked for me. It may take multiple attempt and you may need to power cycle after (there is small square that you can pull out at bottom of paddle to cut power to switch).
After this is done successfully you can pair with HA
When I add these devices I simply
-put zwavejsui into inclusion
-press ON (top of toggle) on switch
-devices immediately added
going to HA >> settings >> device & services >> zwave >> add device I believe places zwave into inclusion mode.
Appreciate the reply, but no matter what I try I can’t get the switch to reset and flash the LED. I tried flipping the power like you stated, removed the provisioned item in the UI, re-add, nothing. I know this thing works cause I just had it on my Ring base station.
I’m going to try moving the pc and antenna closer to see if that helps, but I need to setup WiFi first. I have no issues adding these things to the Ring base station so I figured this should work just as smoothly. I’ve been at this for hours for one damn switch.
Strangely, I had to do the factory reset AFTER adding the switch to HA. They popped up immediately after. I did another switch and reset before adding and it didn’t work. Reset after it was already added to HA and it worked just as the other did. No idea why. But this is how I’ll be adding the others. But tomorrow. Way too frustrating a day to keep on with that.
Ok. I managed to connect all my switches but one. It’s a 58433 switch and for the life of me I can’t get the thing to reset. Probably why it can’t get included. I’ve tried at least 100 times and I never get a blinking light. Also, when I scan it to add it, I get no information at all on the switch. All the others popped up with info before being included, but not this one which I find odd.
Can anyone think of a way to reset this thing? I’ve pulled the air gap thing, cut off power at the breaker box, and tried the normal reset procedure. If I can’t get the damn light to blink I have no other way to reset it.
Have you done an exclusion on Home Assistant with the switch BEFORE inclusion? This is a common practice.
Put HA Z-wave in exclude mode
Enable inclusion/exclusion mode on the switch
HA should say the device was excluded
Then repeat the process in inclusion mode
You got it working first try! And no I hadn’t tried that before, but now I know. It’s still odd I can’t physically reset it. Or maybe it is but the light doesn’t blink. Who knows. But at least it’s working now. Thanks much.
