I assume this post would Uncategorized since the Configuration category is for front-end items and there does not seem to be a fitting category.
I am usually confused at an integration’s first configuration step. This step follows the “+Add integration” selection, or more to the point, the “>” result selected for an installed integration. For example for the IPP integration the first configuration step is “Add device” where “device” would be a printer or perhaps a printer server. For the Tasmota integration this first step is “Add entry”, but here there can be only one “entry” and so “entry” cannot refer to individual Tasmota devices. For LocalTuya the first step is “Add hub”, but so is the first step for “Waste Collection Schedule”. Yet the first step for “Sensi” is “Add entry”, not “Add hub”. One can have multiple Sensi wi-fi thermostats. I forget what “+ Add MQTT device” is for the MQTT integration. I assume that is where I identified the MQTT broker device, but maybe not. I forget. It was years ago.
I can only guess the label for the first configuration step is some property value is an integration’s definition. Thus there is an opportunity for Home Assistant to loose some interface control. I do appreciate how difficult it is to name each abstract hierarchal classification using words that do not have alternative meanings that add confusion.
The recent need to change the “Refresh token*” for the “Sensi” integration due to a password change at the Sensi service is what prompted this post. I could not find any place (like a “config” entry in the instances’s 3 dot menu) to do that other than to “Add entry”, which added another Sensi instance that when removed did not affect the new “Refresh token*”.
