I have an extremely simple setup here with only four esp32 sensors which are working fine, data is being stored, etc. but since I installed the latest HA (2025.4.1 and 15.1 core) system update all pages are extremely slow to load.
I have turned off all addins I am not using so it’s really stripped down, and several restarts later it still requires I click on a link or enter a URL 6, 10, 15 times before any of the pages load. I have not been able to figure out what is causing this slowdown and can’t find any major errors in the logs.
Where can I Look to figure this out? I don’t like the suggestions I just roll back to older versions, as I would eventually like to start using my system for more advanced sensors and automation. I only have a couple small automations to count pump cycles and warn me if a pump is running when it shouldn’t, nothing complicated.
The home assistant green says it is using only 2% of the processor (occasionally 7% as new data comes in, averaging 3%) and the memory is 33% usage. I just installed the system monitor integration to see if it tells me anything and it does not look like it has anything of value to me, or relevant to this problem, so I will probably remove it again, but just to get to that page I have to reload myha:8123/config/integrations/dashboard half a dozen or more times before it shows the page.
It took over an hour after my last reboot before I could logon with chrome and 30 minutes to log on with firefox.
Thank you for this, it has some good suggestions for running down problems. If I can only get it to load long enough for these assistants to load!! Another possible clue to the problem might be that I have to delete cookies in chrome every day just to look at the HA system. Firefox doesn’t seem to have this problem.
So far it’s not working out well. The RenderInfo helped me track down a wonky equation, but even after fixing that equation, the profiler won’t operate, giving the following error, which I have no clue what to do about: “Failed to perform the action profiler.memory. undefined”. Same problem when I try to run the other Profiler keywords.
The thing is, it has taken me three hours to do these simple things because I keep getting “connection lost” errors. I have to still reload pages a dozen times before I can get an action to complete, even just loading the HA overview page, though that one is often a bit more responsive. This is going to take me weeks, I fear. I haven’t the faintest idea what is going on.
As I go to backups, the page mostly doesn’t load, but when it does, it only shows my backups about 10% of the time. The rest of the time it says I don’t have any backups. I don’t know if this helps identify the underlying problem. After another hour I was able to restore it to a 3 month old version from before any of this problem and it is just as bad, which makes me think the problem has nothing to do with Home Assistant and everything to do with my computer. Now I have to find another set of troubleshooting approaches.
Anybody have any ideas where I can start? I am desperate here. Will spend another hour or more trying to restore my backup from this morning.
If someone can point me to how to copy all the content from it without going through the HA user interface, I have zero experience with linux formatted drives.
I have been trying to use the console to roll back to another version of my system, but when i type backups I get 9 pages of data and can only read the last two entries because there is no way to scroll the output one page at a time. Any suggestions?
