There is really nothing special here, but I wanted to share with others my simple automation as I was thinking about gun safety. Hopefully this inspires others to create similar automation for safety & Security.
I recently connected the Aqara vibration sensor to Home Assistant via SkyConnect (which is an amazing device!) going hub-less opens the world to knew devices and new automations.
Once the vibration sensor was configured, I placed the vibration sensor in either the gun box/bag, or inside the butt stock of a rifle.
Simple automation was written that when the device detects vibration or is tilted, a Notify.Notify (for mobile) is triggered off and an additional announcement is made across certain Amazon Echo’s throughout the house.
Outside of proper training (which should always occur), this does give some piece of mind, that items are further controlled.
Additionally, since it is a battery powered device, I did put one more automation in place so that when the device is offline, then a notify.notify (via mobile) is also triggered off to replace the battery or check the connectivity.
Cheers!
