Victoria Fire Danger (CFA) Gauge Card [Custom Integration]

Hi everyone,

Living in Victoria, I wanted a more visual way to keep track of the daily fire danger ratings. I’ve just finished the first version of the Victoria Fire Danger integration and a matching custom gauge card.

It pulls data directly from the CFA RSS Feed and displays the current Fire Danger Rating for your specific district with the official colors and levels.

:fire_engine: Features

  • Official CFA Data: Accurate ratings for all Victorian fire districts.
  • Custom Gauge Card: A clean, visual representation of the current risk level.
  • Easy Setup: Full HACS compatibility.

:seedling: Behind the Project

This is my very first GitHub repository and custom integration! I wanted to bring this to the community because I felt we needed a dedicated Vic version of the great tools available for other states.

Credits: This project is heavily inspired by and based on the original NSW RFS gauge card design by @vwylaw. A huge thanks to them for the original logic and design foundation.

:inbox_tray: How to Install

I am currently waiting for the official “Brands” approval to be added to the default HACS store. In the meantime, you can install it right now as a Custom Repository:

  1. Open HACS in Home Assistant.
  2. Click the three dots in the top right → Custom repositories.
  3. Paste the URL: https://github.com/joelg12345/victoria-fire-danger
  4. Select Integration as the category and click Add.
  5. Restart Home Assistant and add the card to your dashboard!

I’d love to hear your feedback or see how it looks on your dashboards. Stay safe this summer! :australia:

Thanks heaps! :grinning: It’s my first time creating anything like this and trying to understand the code myself, with the help of AI has been a lot of back and forth :face_exhaling::sweat_smile:. Let know how it goes for you, there may still be some bugs here and there. If anything breaks, I’ll do my best to make sure it’s my dashboard that suffers first :joy:
