I wanted to share a project I've been working on called VIKI (Residential Environmental Intelligence). Rather than reacting to isolated events, VIKI attempts to maintain an ongoing, contextual understanding of occupancy, identity, environmental conditions, and household context before making automation decisions.
It is built entirely as a local-first system leveraging Home Assistant, distributed environmental agents, and local AI inference/reasoning.
I've published the reference implementation along with a detailed architectural paper on GitHub. I would love to get your feedback, thoughts on the architecture, or ideas on expanding the contextual reasoning engine!
