My PC running my Virtual Box installation of Home Assistant is having issues booting. Before I troubleshoot the PC, and possibly break something, I want to migrate my important Home Assistant files to another PC. I have the drive attached to a separate PC and can access the files. I just need to know which ones to save. I have a Folder called HASSIO that contains the following. Is this all I need?
HASSIO
+VDI
++HASS (this has another folder and three more files)
++haos_ova-9.4.vdi
Could this be the issue? https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=32978#p149895
“Use Virtual Media Manager (from the VB menu), find your base disk and expand the tree under and find the differencing disk ({hexUUID}.vdi file) you are trying to delete. The extra child disk will likely be one of two under that disk. Select it and note the information displayed at the bottom: ‘Attached to:’ : it will say Not Attached for the problem file. Click Remove to delete it.”
I was not having any issues with Virtual Box or Home Assistant prior to my PC acting up. I’m just looking to proactively move my HA files in case my hard drive proves unrecoverable.
I had to deal with it when the virtual hard drive got full. Before duplicating THE HD file as a backup and do the risky HD resizing, I had to squeeze the child files into the HD file.
Anyway, maybe you’re dealing with something else.
