Virtual Box on Windows

i’d like to use instance of virtual box on my Windows 11 machine that’s mostly sitting idle and is just doing a few things for me. Is virtual box a good platform?

If the PC is on 247 and you have enough resources: yes.
Otherwise it won’t be a good place to run it as every time you need to reboot or shut down the Windows machine, you will need to properly shut down the VM.

And that would be quite often, and ofcause hope Microsoft won’t decide to reboot your Device automatically ( Forced Reboot )

You would be better of using an old Windows 10 device, where you install a VM, Virtual Box or Oracle VM ( I Prefer Oracle VMWare)
You should then block this Windows MAC / IP number in your Routers Firewall so it never get unattended Updates/Reboots or other interference

It’s on 24/7

Then start using it and as soon as you hit limits you do not consider acceptable, ensure you have a backup to restore to another type of installation.

Is there a linux image with imbedded HA that I can install on x86? Turnkey

Does Oracle have another VM stack besides Virtualbox?

In the cloud and some on-premise stuff

I’m sure they mean virtualbox.

I wouldn’t know, but by own experience and reported issues(upon VB, here in this Forum) Oracle is far more stable. Yes probably fever use Oracle, for HAOS, but that doesn’t make VB issues less annoying for those people who choose VB

Opps !, i did mean VMWare :joy: … been using vmware since early 2000, maybe im starting to get senile LOL

@ francis, afsy , give theoldman a break
