Voice Assist initiate conversation / prompt on mobile app?

Good people - not sure if what I am trying to do is possible or not, some docs seem to suggest it is, but when I start, I am not getting very far…

I want HA to ask me a question, same as a mobile actionable notification does, but using speech.

For example, when the mobile device gets within a certain zone, I want the companion app to ask me if I want to open the gate. I respond yes or no, and magic happens.

This is working, sort of, with an actionable notification, although notification on iPhone is rubbish / clunky, if you click in the wrong place, it’s gone, and it’s awkward to do when driving.

Would be so much better if it just asked me…

Docs suggest I need a HA voice device in the house, which I don’t want, unless it’s a requirement to make this function work on the companion app.

Am I asking too much?

Thank you - yes I saw this command, but all the examples seem to be running this on voice satellite hardware rather than the companion app offsite.
