I’m seeing the update for VA PE in my HA install (and have been for a few days). But the update button does nothing. It’s to version 25.3.0, from the current 25.2.1
I’ve tried restarting (also updated HA yesterday as I thought that might help).
Clicking the update button just lights the button up for a few seconds and then it goes back to how it was. I’ve tried it via the notifcation and directly via the device page, neither makes any difference.
Logs show an error that I’ve not got to the bottom of:
Mine was on 25.1.0 and HA did not show that there is anything newer. I had rebooted HA several times, didn’t make a difference. I had not ever taken control of it in the ESPHome Device Builder add-on.
I tried rebooting the PE itself (I thought I had tried that before with no effect, but decided today to really get this figured out) and about 5 minutes later, HA said an update was available. Kind of odd that the device reboot is what kickstarted HA to check for an update. I assume that because HA could see the device and it was usable that it would “know” to check for an update. So my issue was solved. That doesn’t help you though. I’m not an expert on the PE, but these are the 3 reasons (in my googling) as to why I’ve seen people have PE updating issues:
PE HW needs a reboot.
VLAN issues
PE taken control of in ESPHome Device Builder add-on
I see you indicated you reboot it (so #1) likely not the issue. What about the other 2 items? Have you ever successfully updated (or did you get one with 25.2.1 pre-installed)?
My new HA PE has arrived and part of the onboarding involves an update from the delivered 2025.1.0 to 2025.4.0. It starts the update and then cycles around and starts it again and again and again.
When I canceled the update it works Ok. I can issue the trigger word and it turns on/off lights etc. Ok. It simply gets stuck in its update sequence.
