Well after a few failed attempts at trying to build a smart speaker, ive decided i wanted to look into what was available, so off i went to Ready-Made Projects — ESPHome to see if there were any clearer directions, but i came across the ready made devices, I quite like the look of the ESP32-S3-BOX-3, BUT when i click the amazon link to purchase i get a page with loads of different panels all saying ESP32-S3 etc, i then did a search on ali express which returns a quite frankly ridicoulous price of £109, for the one pictured on the esphome project page, so i guess this is my question the other items that are shown look like screens, are they the same thing? and does anyone know which ready made devices work with least config im assuming the home assistant preview might be ok, but the youtube vids i saw didnt fill me with confidence, id like the s3 box but not at £109.
The Voice PE is the most plug-and-play device currently available. I have the S3-BOX-3 sitting in a box somewhere that I haven’t touched in months, and several Voice PEs that I use daily.
If you want something a little less than complete, go for the FutureProofHomes Satellite1. You only receive the PCBs and have to print a case and provide a speaker. Aside from that, they are pretty complete. I have a few of these as well.
I don’t know of a PERFECT solution out there currently, but these 2 are as close as it gets right now.

So how come you could not build a smart speaker, I have 5 homemade speakers working perfectly. Just search here for some help, do not try to follow a youtube video unless it is very recent. The code has changed so often over the last year, that most videos are way out of date.

Was my opening sentence, you obviously didn’t read it, and then linking a document whose opening line is I like to share my code for a voice assistant, it’s been hard to actually make it work, doesn’t make much sense to me, so clever cloggs the next time I post I’d appreciate you keeping out of it if you have nothing constructive to say!!
Appreciate your input, but at £72, I’d rather sleep with Alexa, never mind listen to her droning voice.
