HI, strange that a blind guy is looking for lighting suggestions right? Not so much. I am looking to replace my existing paddle style wall switches with either z-wave or wifi type switches. The only requirement I have has been given to me by my wife. The paddle has to work, no fake ones, and it cannot look like something out of the twilight zone. Can anyone suggest something?
I prefer toggle switches because I can feel them in the dark, they also have a mechanical click feel when you push up and down. They look exactly like a regular toggle switch, except they point straight horizontally instead of up or down; when you toggle it, it returns to its neutral position mechanically.
I use GE Z-Wave Plus toggle switches, you can google that, currently $35 on amazon but sometimes goes on sale.
Unfortunately I am bound by my wifes wishes. As all our current switches are paddle switches she not only wants a matching style but also wants a working paddle. I don’t know if such an animal even exists, hence my query here. I see that GE has a new paddle style dimmer switch, but I cannot determine if the paddle actuates or not. May just have to buy one from Amazon and return it if she is not happy with it. Has anyone out there seen anything similar to her requirements?
i use arcade buttons (with led) connected to the on/off switch of a sonof.
i also desoldered the sonof led and put it in the arcade button, that way the button lights up when the light is on.
the microswitch also clicks giving an audible confirmation the button is pressed.
not really usable for dimming tho just plain on/off.
