Wallpanel - Android dead?

So,

I went looking for Wallpanel - Android on Google Play and couldn’t find it…

Went to the gitub page and found this:

Sigh.

What other options do we have now that the project is dead?

I’ve got Fully Single App Kiosk loaded on an old Nexus 7. Is this the only option we have for this kind of functionality?

The Wallpanel app was nice as the settings were fairly simple and made sense, unlike the myriad of options on Fully Single App Kiosk.

From my experience, the official HA companion app does all so that no 3rd party is necessary.

What specific “kind of functionality” do you need?

Resource consumption, manual page refresh, turn on screen by motion.

Well,

The ability restart a device to “clear the frontend cache” and then have it open the default Dashboard would bee a good place to start.

All of the above-mentioned features, plus:

  • Using the camera to wake the device whenever someone comes close
  • Using the camera with Frigate and Coral for object detection

There are so many functions this setup offers — I haven’t found anything else quite like it.

sorry, but no, not even remotely does it come close to what the WallPanel offers.

The project may be dead but (ATM) the app still lives. As long as it will be compatible with upcoming Android OS versions
