Water softener (CLACK WS1) consumed m3/liter monitoring

I think it should be easy todo with the clack reader
There is an extra I2C port on the Atom S3 lite which can be used to control an external m5stack relay by use of I2C.

Do you use salt for regeneration?
Then dry brine tank can be used so the salt wil dissolve for 2-4 hours
By using the INA3221 measuring current, the clack reader v4 detects the steps
So going to regen, to service (dissolving brine 4hrs) you can start a timer in esphome that lasts for 2 hrs, and opens the valve by activating the relay through i2c on the atom. This is then 2 hrs before real regeneration.

Hello,

Complete noob here. I just got a water treatment system installed, including a water softener, and I have a bit of a problem. I have two sources of water, public and a water well. The public water is 7dH while the water from the well is 56dH. Ideally I would only use the public water, but in the summer it drops pressure until it stops completely and I have to use the well water.

I was thinking of using the included water meter of the Clack and to install another meter on the well water pipe, so I can control the regeneration depending on which water goes through the softener. My idea was to send the data from both meters to an ESP32, do some calculations on it and then use it to send pulses to the Clack meter input. I was thinking I can send normal pulses while the well water meter does not send any data, and x8 the normal pulses while the well water meter sends its own pulses. This way the Clack will be tricked that more water goes through it, and trigger the regen faster. Would this work? If so, can anybody guide me through what components I would need to do this, and how to set them up?

@Fonske
Would I be able to modify the Clack Reader V4 to do this? If I’m not mistaken, it already has a meter IN and OUT, but I would need to add another IN to it and adjust the code.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,
I just got the setup and installed as in the manual. I have WS1 Clack.
I do see two issues I try to see what I did wrong:

  1. I do see 5 entities as unknown:
    a)Time to resinclean
    b)Voltage
    c)Power Clack
    d)Power ESP
    e)Power Chlorinator
  2. I set the distance and capacity in gallons. I see that it reached the TH and Clack did its recycle, but still it shows as:
    Used: 1657.5 gal
    gallon left: 0.0 gal

Capacity of gallons: 1350.0 gal.

What is missing ?

Thanks,
Shachar

Hi @Fonske,

I was wondering if you are still selling the PCB kits? I emailed the person on GitHub and did not get a response and since I’m new to the forums, it looks like I can’t DM you. Thanks

@Fonske : I read the last days a lot about your clack reader. Great work and I’m also really interessted un buying a kit. Also was send you an Email refering that
@qwerty857834 : did you got a reply in between?

Best regards
Christian

I also would like to buy a KIT for CLACK WS1

No, I didn’t get a response via email yet.

I already have a WS1 as an iron filter and want to buy a second one for my softener. For some reason 5 buttons-2 rows WS1 control board with the relay output seems to be impossible to find here in Canada. I tried sending an email to Clack directly but does not have much hope in getting a reply. Anyone here have a valid link to get a WS1 with the optional relay outputs. Thanks

@rasor89 @kpcz
Sorry guys.
The clack reader project is temporarely on hold, due to esphome software issues to the latest code.
I hope to fix it soon. But i am also busy with my work and education for the job

Thanks for the reply @Fonske. Definitely understand that there are priorities in life. Please post back in the future if the project is active again and your time is appreciated.
