Pretty much all hue should work, they are all Zigbee and popular, but it is best to check this list:
If it is not in it it might still work though.
There are often timings for the motion sensor you can set in the configuration of the device. For this it is no different. But most people rely on automations to mke programmable delays. They give more control. For a simple example see:
This is good, but this sensor has stopped working after 4 days I only put it outside today and by tonight no lights came on they did until it went outside. So not sure what to do now, can it be reset or by doing this will it lose all my settings and Automation? I tested it for a while before I trie outside too was going to try to get it on the wall but so glad I didn’t makes it easier until I know its stable which by te looks of it I have a dead sensor.
I’ve been using it without problems for years now. It got a firmware update last week and that too is working great. This behaviour is typical to Zigbee coverage problems. Maybe place a mains powered zigbee router near?
You can pair it again, but it depends how you build your automations if they keep working. If you avoid using device actions and conditions like advised below, then it is as simple as making sure the entity_id is the same afterward.
I cannot get it to detect now in HA! I do not have Hue software on my mobile do I need that on as well as HA as Zigbee will not detect it so I never installed it it paired ok the first time worked ok for 4 dasy and now stopped at 3pm today it last detected! After that Im getting nothing from it. I had ll the automation running great too! Phillips are telling me now I need a Hue Bridge. I’m right next to it now and was when testing too and it had no issues on connecting to the zigbe on off I have.
I also have no way to move it so it stops where it is. I go it to make life easier not harder!
I do have another zigbee onoff but no clue but do have a clue to join them but never tried it. Was hard to set it up in the first place. I just wanted something straight forward easy to have a sensor outside! Its cold out there in winspr and too much for me!
Philips is trying to sell you more hardwware. Do not believe them. If I remember right, a reset is a much longer press on the button you used to pair. The lights should indicate it reset. Remove the device from ZHA and pair again.
They said 10 seconds which Ive tried, it did pick it back up but still playing funny and automation not working now with it. when you think its all right its not it must of go t frost bit! will the automation keep there I have a snapshot of them if it loses them but rather they keep there.
As I edited in: the device can handle cold just fine, but not all batteries can. See if it will work again inside when warm. If it does fine then, pair it again in the place where it belongs, and look at batteries like I linked to that can handle the cold. Pairing devices in the place they belong is important for the mesh to do well.
Both range problems and batteries that cannot stand cold are universal problems. They are both not specific to the device, other devices will suffer the same problems under the same conditions.
I have them with id name! thanks though for the reminders! I think I need to get rid of this Sonoff as that is what things always do go on and off without me doing it! Like this sensor now me having to reset.
I could do with help though on trying to get 2 of them to get wider coverage through an ethernet port I do not have PoE routers but they are networked to downstairs where a second one could go outside. I have seen a good video review on 5 of them but not sure which would be the best one on my setups.
And also not sure if it will connect to the same usb port to go into my ikoolcore R2 or for me to start all over again and get a new everything! as the memory on it at 4Gb is running out.
I could do with a backup device anyway as if this failed id be in trouble too a month to get to me from China but it is a good device and I had no issues with it apart from it being a hard long setup to do it. I will put in the link the video I saw so you can recommend what would be best to do. Thanks Top 5 Versatile Zigbee Coordinators
That a point on batteries I have not used any yet as it comes to me new, so I have no clue what batteries are for it and where they go either but looks like I need to find out now thanks At a guess is it in the little screw about the button we press to open tit up to add the batteries? Whats sort best for the sensor?
Lithium AA batteries, also called Lithium metal batteries (not the same thing as Lithium Ion, hence the metal in the name. Lithium metal are not rechargeable!). Those are more expensive then alkaline but they last longer and are ideal in cold situations, so that is where I use them most for. They are not rechargeable.
Ok great tip thank you again. I’ve had a disaster this moring woke up to 2 routers not working no Ha is not running at all which is no good as all my medical are effected by it! Im not sure what I have do to keep the Ikoolcore running without a internet as all hubs go to it makign them all usless.
I thought I was safe being able to keep running things but now know this is not the case.
Only thing Ive managed to do is get a wifi to my pc, to post on here my issues! And see if there is a lot better way than this what I have!
