Hello, I am unsure if to post to an old thread or just post a new one, so I’ll just post here. I had an issue where my TicWatch Pro 3 GPS randomly developed an issue where it couldn’t connect to my Home Assistant companion app when connected to the phone via Bluetooth. It would however, work just if the watch was connected via Wi-Fi.
After quite a bit of searching I came to the conclusion that it had to do something with “Private DNS” being enabled and it only connecting to Google’s 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4 dns. I read that disabling “Private DNS” on the watch will remedy the issue. The option isn’t available on the watch and need to be configured via ADB. On the TicWatch Pro 3 the usb cables are missing the 2 data pins in the center so ADB via USB wasn’t an easy option without a custom cable (which I tried and failed to make work) DNS.
I searched XDA and found a program called “Bugjaeger Mobile ADB”, installed it using directions from XDA Help link (search for “Bugjeager Mobile ADB” and disabled global private DNS using Github link. It all seems to work normal again. The odd thing is that it worked well until I got a duplication device error for my phone and watch on Home Assistant, after fixing the issue, this thing developed which seems like it’s been a problem. I don’t know why mine worked for so long and only recently developed this DNS issue.
