WeatherFlow cloud fails to setup

I just got a tempest weather station and am unable to complete the setup using the “WeatherFlow cloud” integration. I can enter the api token and then it comes up with a failed setup error “feels_like” and keeps retrying endlessly. Any guidance to get past this?

The local only “WeatherFlow” integration booted up with no issues but that integration only lists the devices current readings. The cloud version supposedly mimics the tempest apps data, averaging local weather station data, and providing forecasts/historical data.

I’d like to have both running. Thanks for any help.

The HACS “WeatherFlow Forecast and Sensor integration” (weatherflow_forecast) by @briis has worked flawlessly for me accessing the cloud data:

Thank you, I’ll give that a go. It’s pretty confusing with the official one. There are so many of these, all with similar names. WeatherFlow, WeatherFlow Weather, WeatherFlow Cloud, WeatherFlow Forecast, and who knows maybe there’s more, ha! I would think the official integrations would just work without issue. Loading this one now, thanks for the recommendation!

For anyone else that runs into this issue when using the official “weatherflow cloud” integration, here’s what I found. Two things really.

First was the battery level on my device was 2.15v, which I guess is extremely low so it was in “eco” mode. Eco mode disables a few things to conserve power. One would think that a brand new device would not have shipped with a dead battery. Tempest states the batteries are fully charged. Initially, I was unable to pair the station to the base and I had read to leave the device in the sun for a few hours to charge. This worked for pairing, but again several things were disabled as the voltage was too low. So the integration would fail as these devices were not sending data to the hub and the hub had no data for those.

Second was not having enough uptime. It was suggested to let the weather station run for at least a day before trying to add it to home assistant.

The combination of getting the battery charge high enough to get the device out of eco mode, and allowing for a solid day of data going to the tempest app solved the issue.

The integration setup perfectly fine after this. So, moral of the story….don’t be anxious to set things up straight away. Relax, take a beat, and try it after a solid day of operation.

Still, I appreciate the recommendation for the hacs integration and am playing around with all of them for the time being.
